We are all united by the desire for a better and more sustainable world. With this initiative, we are the best example of the fact that we are moving in the right direction.

300 devices to 17 organisations

Yesterday evening, at our Munich office, we donated a whole host of working second-hand devices to a good cause. Six charitable organisations came to collect the items we no longer use but which are still needed elsewhere. In total, around 300 devices are going to 17 organisations. We’re looking forward to every single handover and will keep you updated!

Many of our colleagues have been setting up the new equipment over the past few weeks. Florian has been liaising with each organisation to find out what they need. Until yesterday, we only knew most of them from emails; now we’ve met the people behind them and heard what’s going to happen to our old equipment – we’re absolutely delighted!
Dennis Faude, Lead Quality & Sustainability Manager

What the old appliances are now being used for

  • Nine Windows laptops, four iPads and headsets are being donated to the Kick ins Leben Foundation. The organisation supports children in disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Munich from pre-school age right through to starting their careers. Many of them do not have their own device at home. Christine Richter from the foundation therefore wants to provide them with the laptops so that they can, for example, work independently when putting together a job application.

  • lebensmut Landshut supports cancer patients and their families. With six Dell laptops, a projector and conference cameras, the charity is setting up a group room where patients aged 55 and over can learn together what is now expected of them online. Sandra Hintermaier lists the questions they ask: “How can I order from an online pharmacy? What is my electronic health record? What’s on my insurance card?”

  • At Climate Fresk Deutschland, Johanna Treumann started as the organisation’s first permanent employee on Monday. “Today was my second day at work. And now I’m very lucky to be getting a work laptop here as well.” With her MacBook Pro, she runs climate workshops at Bavarian vocational schools. Two monitors are also being donated to the organisation.

  • TEAMWERK, an open workshop in Aschheim, uses five MacBooks for children’s courses on 3D printing and digital manufacturing. The organisation has been in existence for five years; according to Patrick, it was founded as a meeting place “where people share things and learn from one another”.

  • Heart2Soul brings sport to schools for people with disabilities and will in future be presenting its projects there using its own laptop.

  • The Munich branch of Labdoo is receiving five MacBook Pros. The volunteers install educational software on donated computers and deliver them to schools all over the world.
