Digital from system to invoice: Flexible system supports experts

TÜV NORD is pursuing the goal of implementing a holistic, flexible IT system to support experts.

DRACI (=Damage Report and Calculation Inspection) is intended to map the business process from order creation, scheduling and vehicle inspection or assessment through to invoicing.

The cloud-based system enables experts to efficiently create and invoice damage reports and vehicle valuations.

By integrating DRACI into existing customer processes, car dealerships/workshops can, for example, order spare parts directly or start workshop planning without having to process data manually.

Added value for garages: at least 2 days time saving

DRACI helps to process the damage calculation significantly faster.

In practice, this means that car dealerships can start ordering spare parts and planning workshops as soon as the damage calculation has been completed, saving at least two working days.

According to TÜV NORD, even several days can be saved when reducing the downtime of returns or purchases.

Thanks to the modular architecture, the code can be easily rolled out for different customers. The architecture makes it possible to integrate additional customers or partners and take their specific requirements into account.

Azure Kubernetes Service Cluster as IT infrastructure

The technical implementation is based on a modern microservice architecture with Quarkus and a React frontend. The application runs on an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) cluster, whereby the entire infrastructure is managed using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Continuous Deployment.

External services are integrated to import vehicle data, implement invoice processing via SAP, automatically release images or post used vehicles for sale.

Bettina Vitzthum, Senior IT Consultant, MaibornWolff: "DRACI has been in productive operation since August 2023 and is being used by an increasing number of experts. The continued operation of the predecessor systems is scheduled to end at the end of 2025. In order to optimally support this transition, we are working closely with TÜV NORD's experts and end users to implement agile enhancements to the existing functionality."

We are also taking over the operation of the application and virtual infrastructure. Here we implement error handling including identification, analysis, communication and adjustments for system stability and maintainability.

IT system also to be used for leasing returns

With DRACI, TÜV NORD is pursuing the goal of using a powerful tool for, among other things, lease returns from major customers. Particular attention is being paid to the rapid execution of orders in line with market standards. This functionality is currently being successively implemented for a German car manufacturer.

We have been supporting this implementation with TÜV NORD and its customers since the exploration phase. Since then, we have been supporting the iterative requirements analysis and implementing the jointly developed concept in an agile manner.
