We explain about the metaverse

Play along or wait and see? When it comes to the metaverse, this is one of the key questions that many of our customers are asking. As experts, it is important for us to get to grips with the topic of the metaverse and shed light on the hype behind it. We want to shed light on it: What is the metaverse? What do you need for it? Do our customers need to enter the metaverse? And if so, what does the roadmap look like?

What is the metaverse?

There is no such thing as the metaverse. There are a large number of companies that offer experiences that allow people to enter such worlds of experience via a browser, cell phone or VR glasses. However, the metaverse does not exist as an official entity. For us at MaibornWolff, the metaverse is an opportunity to design new digital 3D experience worlds even better.

Well prepared for the metaverse

Why are we working on this topic? At MaibornWolff, we bring together the various disciplines needed to build an immersive experience like the Metaverse: From 3D design experts who create VR worlds and design interactions, to cloud and AI specialists. We are able to integrate a metaverse experience into an existing system or build a metaverse ourselves away from third-party providers.

The path to the metaverse

It is already possible to immerse yourself in a 3D world with an app. It doesn't have to be VR glasses. Customers who don't want to take the full risk straight away can start with an app and test whether their users are interested in a 3D experience. This is very easy to do in the existing customer environment with an app or browser and in many cases we recommend getting started with "the metaverse".

We start the metaverse with three building blocks:

Information

We provide information: What's out there? Which platforms exist? What does the tech stack look like?

Understanding

We create understanding: Why is the whole thing needed? What possibilities does the metaverse offer our customers and their end users? Where are the limits today and what is still a vision?

Meaningfulness

We ask the question: Is there a meaningful use or business case? Should a community be built or should new customers be acquired? Which device is the right one? VR glasses, an app or perhaps something completely different?

From metaverse moments to the metaverse

A diagram shows the development process in six phases: Collecting use cases, evaluating and deciding, working out the concept, proof of concept (POC), testing and adapting, and building, all in a three-month cycle.

Metaverse Envisioning Workshop

We have developed our own format to help our customers decide whether and how they want to "enter the metaverse": the Metaverse Envisioning Workshop.
Here we advise you from the very first step, for example through hands-on sessions with various devices. You can immerse yourself in the 3D world in the app or through VR to get an impression: How does it feel for me and what does it potentially mean for my customers?

Together, we find out which lightweight use case we can build. We test whether it works and makes sense in your environment. Of course, we accompany you on your journey, which can start with this prototype - from testing with end users and further development to the roll-out of the metaverse experience.
