Ojemba at the AWS Summit Hamburg 2025

On June 5, 2025, Eileen Fürstenau (Senior Software Engineer at MaibornWolff) represented Ojemba at the AWS Summit in Hamburg and provided exciting insights into an international digitization project in the healthcare sector. In her session, she reported on the development of a cloud-native healthcare application for community health workers—professionals who provide basic medical care in rural and structurally weak regions. The aim of the project was to make the work of these helpers more efficient and reliable through digital support.

The app was developed in collaboration with our subsidiary Ojemba by a cross-border team. Experts from Guinea, Kigali (Rwanda), and Germany contributed their respective perspectives, experiences, and technical expertise to the solution. This international collaboration was an exciting challenge not only from a technical standpoint, but also from a cultural one—and an example of successful co-creation across continents.

Global challenges, modern responses

A key focus was on using modern AWS services to meet real-world requirements such as user authentication, offline availability, and future scalability. Among other things, AWS Amplify was used for app development, AWS Cognito for secure user management, and other services to build a reliable and adaptable infrastructure. The result is a solution that works reliably even under difficult conditions—even with a weak or intermittent Internet connection.

In her presentation, Eileen not only highlighted the technical implementation, but also shared strategic decisions and lessons learned. What architectural considerations played a role? What technological hurdles had to be overcome? How was it ensured that the solution remains maintainable, secure, and scalable in the long term? The session was aimed at anyone interested in cloud technologies, international software projects, and digital innovations in the field of global health.
