Accessibility in design – from an extra feature to a matter of course
Lecture by Noémie Sei
This presentation by Senior IT Consultant Noémie Sei shows how designers can seamlessly integrate accessibility into their work instead of seeing it as an additional task. It emphasizes the need for a change in perspective, similar to responsive design, and offers practical methods and tools for integrating accessibility from the conception phase onwards.
In addition, ways to collaborate effectively with developers are presented to ensure that accessibility remains a priority throughout the project lifecycle. The goal is to establish accessibility as a natural part of the design process, thereby improving the user experience for everyone.
More than compliance – The EU AI Act as a compass for user-centered and compliant AI design
Lecture by Anja Miller
Is the EU AI Act an obstacle? AI expert and digital designer Anja Miller knows that it can also serve as a compass for AI design that inspires users and thus creates added value!
The AI Act sets out comprehensive requirements. Developers and designers face the challenge of creating innovative AI systems that inspire users and are legally compliant at the same time. But this is not a contradiction: there are already AI design practices, frameworks, and methods—such as the HAX Workbook and the XAI Framework—that support these requirements.
Using an example application, good (and bad) AI design practices are discussed and shown how they are compatible with the requirements of the EU AI Act.

Digital Design – Ways to spread our message!
Keynote speech by Martina Beck, Kim Lauenroth, Ute Nause, and Thomas Immich
Ensure digital sovereignty, avoid technical debt, and prevent digital waste from even arising in the first place. a10>not let it arise in the first place – these are key challenges that society and the economy are facing in the digitalization and in light of current political developments must be addressed. The job description digital design was established in 2018 based on the conviction that a holistic qualification is necessary for high-quality digitalization a49>digitization requires holistically qualified designers and creators.
This assumption is being confirmed increasingly: Economy, education and research are beginning to take up the job profile and develop it further. The goal is now to anchor digital design more broadly – a development, which is favored by the current political situation.
The advisory board of DDUX highlights the current situation and makes it clear that digital design has long since no optional skill anymore, but in view of the current challenges an essential competence is. In doing so, both ways to raise awareness of awareness of the importance of digital design to a138>sharpen awareness, as well as presenting exemplary applications to which illustrate how digital products can be successfully designed through targeted design.
