IoT solution live within four months

For the IoT data of a product manufacturer, we developed a lean cloud solution that is scalable and grows with a variety of devices in perspective.

Just four months after the initial requirements workshop, the IoT solution went live:

  • With Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and Azure Serverless Functions, IoT data is being stored, analyzed, and made usable.
  • For device monitoring and remote diagnostics, Azure Active Directory B2C is being used; this opens optimization potential for the devices, for example, regarding their life cycle.
  • The solution with Azure Serverless Functions is being supported and further developed by the customer's IT team. The training of the customer's employees was part of the project.

The project, which went live quickly, balances perfectly within the triangle of new features, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

High-availability container orchestration secures technology investments

Our client provides highly available services and regularly adds new features in a rapidly evolving business segment. To meet the high demands of end customers, the provider optimizes the scalable, high-performance platform concerning high availability and fast response times.

The container-based platform runs on AKS combined with Azure DevOps:

  • AKS enables easy deployment and rollout of services.
  • Kubernetes, as a proven open-source orchestration tool, secures technology investments.
  • There is high availability for container orchestration with Microsoft Azure while maintaining a low cost of ownership in a managed service.

Our customer realizes rapid feature rollouts on this platform and thereby achieving a short time-to-market. In addition, the internationalization is planned in as well: The scalable basis allows a simple roll-out of services via new OEM partners at home and abroad.

Live monitoring platform in a safety area

Our customer's safety platform implements live monitoring for critical environmental conditions that can endanger the health and safety of employees if exceeded. An innovative ecosystem of the monitoring platform opens new possibilities in the end customers' daily work. This enables: 

  • the monitoring of sensor data from various environmental detectors,
  • the visualization of specific events on an interactive map and
  • the suggestion of quick courses of action based on pre-configured alarms.

To deploy the ecosystem, we built the end-to-end solution from detector connectivity to visualization of events and alarms on a WebApp. The cloud-native application was developed in Microsoft Azure Cloud and uses PaaS components. It can pass data to external applications.


Collecting Data On-Site

Employees connect their smartphone to a detector via a gateway app (native app for Android and iOS) developed in the project to monitor data. Based on this data, rules and thresholds can be configured to visualize and evaluate events at a central location. In addition, it is possible to see where the devices are located at the deployment sites and to monitor their status.


End devices that are not yet compatible with the GatewayApp are connected via another system: Here, inserted detectors provide readings; these are integrated into the active asset management, even if they themselves are not directly cloud-enabled. This application is connected to the cloud via the Azure IoT stack.
